Barrowby, 19th April 2017

John' s walk this Wednesday took us across the fields below Barrowby towards Stenwith and Woolsthorpe and the Grantham Canal.  Here are some photos from Bill and a route from John W.

Medbourne. 17th April 2017

Steve D led 22 ramblers on this 8½ mile walk from Medbourne taking in the villages of Nevill Holt, Blaston and Hallaton.

We enjoyed beautiful undulating countryside in good weather. Coffee was taken near Blaston and lunch around Halaton Village Cross and the Buttercross. This is the focus for the annual bottle kicking contest between Hallerton and Medbourne held annually on Easter Monday. This contest is like rugby and involves the best of three in kicking a small barrel across the stream between the villages.

Here are some of Steve's photographs.

East Bridgford, 9th April 2017

Our regular back marker Brian led 23 ramblers on a 10 mile circular walk ...

... from East Bridgeford.  The walk was lengthened from the original 9 miles to 10 miles due to the new A46 road development. The weather was sunny but we were cooled by a good breeze.

After our coffee stop at we walked on to Kneeton where we stopped for lunch at St Helen's Church.  On the loop back we had a few steep climbs and then followed the Trent, stopping to view Gunthorpe weir and lock.
